A brief history…

In April of 2002, the Center Manager called upon a group of model train enthusiasts to design and build a large outdoor layout at S.C.O.P.E. Center in Warren.

A track plan was drawn by Darrin Warren. With SCOPE, Inc. donating the track material, volunteers Dan Houston, Nick Schnulo, Charley Wood, Ben Davis, Mike Zador, Jim Richards, Larry James, Cody Reisinger, and Ken Hayes began the acquisition of trains, laying the track, designing the landscape, and organizing the layout of the buildings.
A sidewalk surrounding the layout was installed by volunteers with concrete and other materials donated by community partners who showed interest in the project.

The club was officially launched with Larry James as first President in 2002-2003. The railroad club rotates presidents yearly.

Past Presidents include:

Nuck Schnulo 2003-2005
Horst Klinz 2005-2006
Mike Zador 2007
Ben Davis 2008

The Riverside Railroad Club has twenty members, including two women, Judy Richards and Joan Twaddle, who do their best to encourage other women to join the hobby.
The club’s outdoor railroad garden is complete with a miniature community containing buildings, mountains, lakes, tunnels, shrubs and plants for greenery.

We have a whole village of trains. The trains are able to run through the winter, as small plows and blowers are attached.
We meet the second Tuesday of every month from 4:00pm to
7:00pm.

The trains run every Tuesday from 4:30pm to 7:00pm.

We have a cleanup and work session when we run the trains,
and when the weather permits.
We order trains and railroad equipment from Andrew’s Hardware at Howland Corners, and Krouse Hardware in North Lima.

We attend the annual East Coast Large Scale Train Show in York, PA., along with many others in our area.

Membership is open to all train enthusiasts. Junior members are also welcome, but must have a parent or guardian present. Club dues are $24.00 for adults and $12.00 for juniors (up to 18 years old) per year. Donations may be sent to:
